The founding conference of the Shanghai Pudong New Area Drama Association took place on the afternoon of October 9 at the Pudong New Area Cultural and Arts Guidance Center. The event brought together numerous esteemed figures from the world of drama, including artists, enthusiasts, and scholars from related fields. Among those present was Huang Wei, a member of the Standing Committee of the Pudong New Area District Committee and the Minister of the Publicity Department.
Huang extended warm congratulations on the establishment of the Drama Association and expressed his hopes for the organization. He emphasized the importance of exploring new models for the development of drama in Pudong under the guidance of the Pudong Federation of Literary and Art Circles, while also highlighting the need to build a united and cohesive community for drama practitioners.
During the founding conference, the first leadership of the Shanghai Pudong New Area Drama Association was elected. Li Zhenlin, the deputy director of the Academic Committee and dean of the Film School at Shanghai Theatre Academy, was elected as the president. Other notable speakers included Sun Ganlu, vice president of the Shanghai Federation of Literary and Art Circles, vice president of the Shanghai Writers’ Association, and president of the Pudong New Area Federation of Literary and Art Circles, as well as Yang Shaolin, honorary president of the Shanghai Drama Association. Each speaker congratulated the association on its formation and expressed optimism for its future development.
Sun Ganlu pointed out that the establishment of the Pudong New Area Drama Association would bring together drama practitioners living and working in the region and provide a platform for artists to交流, learn, and showcase their work. He believes this initiative will lead to further innovation and growth in the Pudong drama scene.
In his address, Yang Shaolin stated that the new association will serve as a platform for drama workers to exchange ideas, refine their skills, and collaborate on future developments. He urged the association to maintain a proper artistic direction and actively fulfill its responsibilities, contributing wisdom and strength for the flourishing of the drama industry in Pudong.
With the establishment of the Pudong New Area Drama Association, local drama workers now have a supportive “home.” Li Zhenlin indicated that the association will actively promote the drama industry in Pudong, innovate to create a distinct Pudong drama brand, nurture talent, and consolidate a strong foundation within the local drama community. Following the establishment of the association, efforts will be made to integrate resources and seek support from various avenues, in order to create favorable conditions for creation, research, training, and exchange in drama. The association aims to unite its members, expand its ranks, and further promote the prosperity and development of drama in Pudong.
Currently, the association is home to nearly 100 members, including creators, managers, and practitioners of drama, particularly a number of accomplished artists such as national first-class playwrights and actors. The establishment of the association provides a new platform for enhancing Pudong’s artistic brand and building a cultural highland, while also gathering fresh momentum for the development and prosperity of cultural and artistic endeavors.
