Overseas Chinese leaders and businessmen from 27 countries and regions held a wedding ceremony in Yulin, Guangxi

The 2024 Overseas Chinese Conference in Yulin took place on October 16, attracting leaders and businesspeople from 27 countries and regions to this renowned hometown of overseas Chinese in Guangxi, China. The event served as a platform for attendees to reminisce about their roots, discuss collaborations, and explore opportunities for development.

Lyu Jianfeng, Chairman of the Yulin Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, highlighted that Yulin is Guangxi’s largest hometown for overseas Chinese, hosting over 2 million overseas compatriots and more than 1.5 million returnees and their families. Furthermore, there are nearly 200 member enterprises in the Yulin Overseas Chinese Business Association. To strengthen connections with overseas Chinese, Yulin has established innovative platforms such as the “Yuqiao Meridian” and the “Rongqiao Grand Alliance,” while also creating cultural exhibition bases dedicated to overseas Chinese culture. These initiatives aim to foster community sentiment, harness the strength and wisdom of overseas Chinese, and safeguard their interests.

During the conference, a project signing ceremony was held, where 12 projects across various industries—including equipment manufacturing, electronic information, green food, health care, and cultural tourism—were signed.

Additionally, the Yulin Business Return Industry and Overseas Chinese Entrepreneur Park (in Beiliu) was officially launched. Chen Sen, president of the Yulin Overseas Chinese Business Association, explained that the park will primarily focus on developing the electronic information industry, creating a comprehensive platform that integrates high-end manufacturing, technological innovation, and cultural exchange. It will also provide one-stop services for overseas Chinese businesses looking to invest and establish factories in the area.

Li Yuming, president of the Thai Guangxi General Chamber of Commerce, expressed his enthusiasm for Yulin’s efforts to build a modern industrial system and the promising investment environment that it offers to overseas investors. He is committed to actively participating in the modernization of his hometown, aiming to strengthen economic ties and cooperation between Thailand and Yulin across various sectors.

The conference also featured cultural performances and site visits under the theme “广西三月三·乡音播全球” (Guangxi’s March 3rd: Spreading Local Voices Worldwide), showcasing the rich heritage and connections among overseas Chinese in Yulin.
