Li Qiang went to Islamabad for an official visit to Pakistan and attended the 23rd meeting of the Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member state

On October 14, during a special interview, Chinese Premier Li Qiang shared insights about his recent visit to Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Arriving at Islamabad’s Noor Khan Airport on a chartered flight, Premier Li aims to participate in the 23rd meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states.

Upon his arrival, Premier Li was warmly welcomed by Prime Minister Shehbaz and China’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong. In our conversation, Li emphasized the significance of the China-Pakistan relationship, describing Pakistan as China’s “all-weather strategic partner.” He noted that, over the past 73 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, both nations have maintained a high level of trust and steadfast support for one another. The China-Pakistan relationship serves as a benchmark for friendly cooperation and mutual benefit between countries, he asserted.

Reflecting on a recent meeting in June between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Shehbaz during the latter’s visit to China, Li highlighted the discussions aimed at accelerating the construction of a closer China-Pakistan community of shared destiny in the new era. “This meeting has provided vital strategic guidance for the development of our bilateral relations and cooperation,” he remarked, expressing China’s willingness to continue nurturing traditional friendship with Pakistan and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation to better share development opportunities. “Together, we can create a prosperous and progressive future for our nations,” Li added.

Turning to regional matters, Premier Li expressed China’s hopes for further collaboration with all members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). He emphasized the importance of implementing the outcomes of the Astana Summit, promoting the “Shanghai Spirit,” and enhancing cooperation across various fields. “Our collective efforts will contribute significantly to promoting peace, stability, and development in the region,” he stated.

Premier Li had just concluded an official visit to Vietnam before arriving in Islamabad, where he received a warm send-off at the airport from Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, along with the Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam, He Wei.
