On October 24, the “Let the World See the Qinling” ecological environment protection art and photography cultural promotion event for 2024-2025 was officially launched in Baoji City, Shaanxi Province. The initiative aims to mobilize various sectors of society to actively participate in both the protection of the Qinling environment and the promotion of Qinling culture, encouraging greater attention to this vital region.

The “Let the World See the Qinling” campaign will run from October 2024 to July 2025. It includes a series of activities such as artistic creations by renowned artists, a calligraphy and painting competition for college students, a short video contest, a rare flora and fauna photography competition, and a dialogue column featuring interviews about the Qinling. These events will offer a comprehensive and multifaceted portrayal of the stunning scenery, cultural heritage, rich ecology, and successful conservation efforts in the Shaanxi section of the Qinling.

Prior to the event, Baoji City organized the second “Green Qinling, Beautiful Baoji” photography exhibition, which received 1,435 submissions. After a rigorous selection process, 63 outstanding works were chosen and will be showcased, highlighting the natural beauty and cultural depth of the Qinling, as well as the significant achievements made by Baoji in the field of ecological protection.

The second photography exhibition will officially open on October 29 in Baoji City. It will feature award-winning entries from the recent call for submissions, along with exceptional calligraphy and photography from the “Let the World See the Qinling” awareness campaign for 2023-2024.

Guo Jianshun, Director of the Shaanxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission’s Qinling Ecological Environment Protection Office, remarked, “The ‘Let the World See the Qinling’ cultural promotion events not only provide a platform for artists to capture the beauty of Qinling with their brushes and colors, but also open a window for the Qinling culture to connect with the public. We aim to tell the story of Qinling with our papers, brushes, and cameras, encouraging more people to get involved in conservation efforts. Moreover, we hold a responsibility to actively protect the Qinling and become guardians of its ecology, ensuring its beautiful landscapes endure.”

Ming Tao, Vice Chairman of the Baoji Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, expressed that Baoji will seize this opportunity to innovate its approach and further explore the cultural significance of the Qinling. The goal is to engage more social forces and the public in experiencing, promoting, and participating in the ecological protection of this important area.

This event is sponsored by the Shaanxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission, the Shaanxi Provincial Education Department, the Shaanxi Provincial Culture and Tourism Department, the Shaanxi Forestry Bureau, the Shaanxi Provincial Communist Youth League, and the Shaanxi Soong Ching Ling Foundation.
