During the National Day holiday in 2024, civil aviation carried a total of nearly 16.1 million passengers.

In an interview conducted on October 8, a spokesperson from the Civil Aviation Administration of China shared remarkable statistics about air travel during the National Day holiday, which took place from October 1 to October 7, 2024. The data revealed that nearly 16.1 million passengers were transported across the nation, averaging about 2.3 million travelers per day. This marks a significant 22% increase in daily passenger volume compared to the 2019 holiday, as well as an 11% rise from the Mid-Autumn and National Day holiday period in 2023.

The spokesperson highlighted that various organizations within the civil aviation sector closely followed directives from the central government and the Civil Aviation Administration. With great attention to detail, they planned operations, upheld strict safety protocols, effectively allocated resources, and enhanced service quality to ensure a seamless transportation experience throughout the holiday.

During this time frame, a total of 128,000 flights were conducted, averaging 18,306 flights daily. This represents an 11.2% increase compared to the 2019 holiday and a 9.3% rise from last year’s mid-autumn holiday. Notably, the flight punctuality rate soared to 96.9%, showing a 4 percentage point improvement from 2019 and a 2.3 percentage point rise from 2023.

The spokesperson also noted that the most popular airports during the holiday included Guangzhou Baiyun, Shenzhen Bao’an, Beijing Capital, Shanghai Pudong, Chengdu Tianfu, Beijing Daxing, Chongqing Jiangbei, Hangzhou Xiaoshan, Xi’an Xianyang, and Kunming Changshui. The busiest routes involved key connections such as Beijing to Shanghai, Beijing to Chengdu, and Shanghai to Guangzhou, along with other important links like Beijing to Shenzhen and Shanghai to Chengdu.
