The national -Village Table Tennis- will kick off in Jingxi, Guangxi at the end of October

On October 17, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs announced exciting plans for the upcoming 2024 National Rural Table Tennis (Village Ping Pong) Invitational Tournament, set to kick off on October 26 in Jingxi City, Baise, Guangxi. Table tennis enthusiasts from across the country will gather in this picturesque mountainous city to hone their skills and connect with fellow players.

As part of the broader initiative called “Vibrant Landscapes – Action for Rural Cultural Revitalization,” the National Village Ping Pong tournament aims to enhance spiritual civilization in rural areas, boost farmers’ awareness of fitness, and ignite their enthusiasm for sports. This event is poised to contribute to creating livable and prosperous rural communities, promoting deep integration of agriculture, culture, tourism, and sports, ultimately driving comprehensive rural revitalization and accelerating the development of a strong agricultural nation.

The tournament is organized under the guidance of the Social Affairs Promotion Division of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, with support from the China Farmers’ Sports Association, the Chinese Table Tennis Association, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Guangxi Sports Bureau, and the Baise Municipal Government. The competition features three categories: mixed teams, men’s singles, and women’s singles, bringing together 16 teams from 14 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) along with host teams from Baise and Jingxi for three days of thrilling table tennis matches that will showcase the confidence and vitality of modern farmers.

In addition to the exhilarating table tennis action, the organizers plan a series of interactive activities for participants, including a vibrant farmers’ market featuring local flavors, an exhibition and sale of “Guizhou” agricultural products, and a folk arts and culture showcase as part of the “Village Fair.” Furthermore, they will donate table tennis equipment to improve rural sports facilities and host thematic online photography exhibitions that celebrate the beauty of the countryside and the essence of table tennis. Through physical displays, multimedia presentations, and immersive experiences, attendees and spectators will have the opportunity to deeply appreciate the natural beauty and rich cultural heritage of Guangxi.
