According to the website of the Central Meteorological Administration, significant weather changes have been reported across various regions in China on October 26. Coastal areas in Zhejiang, Guangdong, and Hainan Island experienced strong winds, while areas such as Qinghai, Inner Mongolia, and Heilongjiang faced rain and snow.
In the early hours from 8 AM yesterday to 6 AM today, impacts from Typhoon “Tammei” combined with a cold front resulted in wind gusts of 6 to 9 levels in parts of the southeastern Zhejiang coastline, northeastern Fujian, northern Taiwan, central and western coastal Guangdong, southern Guangxi, and Hainan Island. Certain areas recorded gusts reaching levels 10 to 12, with localized reports from Sansha in Hainan showing gusts of 13 to 14. Heavy rain or thunderstorms were reported in southeast Zhejiang, southeastern Taiwan, central and eastern Hainan, and other regions. Specifically, areas like Wenzhou in Zhejiang, Pingtung in Taiwan, and Qiongzhong and Sansha in Hainan recorded exceptionally heavy rainfall, with amounts ranging from 100 to 200 mm, and Sansha seeing extreme levels of 312 mm.
Additionally, light snow or sleet was noted in parts of northeastern Qinghai, central Guangxi, southern Ningxia, eastern Inner Mongolia, northwest Jilin, and central Heilongjiang, with precipitation between 1 and 8 mm. Some areas in Inner Mongolia, such as Tongliao and Xingan League, reported blizzards measuring between 10 and 16 mm. This morning, fog was observed in northeastern and central Hebei and eastern Tianjin, with visibility in some areas dropping below 200 meters.
Regarding the upcoming typhoons and weather events, Typhoon “Tammei,” now downgraded from a typhoon to a strong tropical storm, was located approximately 110 kilometers northeast of Da Nang, Vietnam, with maximum sustained winds of 25 meters per second. It is expected to make landfall near Da Nang around noon today and will gradually weaken as it moves along Vietnam’s coastline.
Meanwhile, Typhoon “Connie,” which is currently a tropical storm, was positioned approximately 1,400 kilometers northwest of Hualien, Taiwan, with maximum winds of 18 meters per second. It is predicted to slowly move west-northwest, intensifying as it approaches the eastern coast of Taiwan.
Looking ahead, the next three days show a mix of weather across China. From October 27 at 8 AM to October 28 at 8 AM, light snow or sleet may occur in eastern Heilongjiang, central Jilin, northern Xinjiang, and southeastern Tibet. Meanwhile, areas in northern and central parts of Hainan Island are expected to experience moderate to heavy rain, with some locations likely receiving 50 to 55 mm of rainfall, indicating possible severe weather.
