Israeli strikes on Iran kill four soldiers, Iran says

In an exclusive interview, we delve into the recent tensions between Israel and Iran, sparked by Israel’s military actions in the region. According to the Iranian army, Israeli strikes, which they claim were in retaliation for Iran’s missile attacks earlier this month, resulted in the deaths of four Iranian soldiers.

On Saturday morning, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that they targeted missile factories and other facilities located near Tehran and in western Iran. This operation came after weeks of anticipation surrounding Israeli retaliation for an Iranian assault that involved nearly 200 ballistic missiles aimed at Israel on October 1. Iran indicated that their missile barrage was a response to the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh on Iranian soil back in July. Although many of the incoming missiles were intercepted by Israel and its allies, a few successfully impacted central and southern parts of the country.

In the aftermath of the Israeli airstrikes, Iranian authorities reported that sites in Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam provinces were targeted. While the military asserted that they managed to counter the attacks effectively, they acknowledged there was “limited damage” in some areas. Interestingly, Iranian state media showcased footage of normal traffic in various cities following the strikes, with schools and sports activities continuing as scheduled.

The IDF announced the details of their operation shortly after reports of explosions emerged in Iran. Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, an IDF spokesperson, emphasized that the Israeli military is fully prepared to “defend the state of Israel.” He also cautioned that if Iran chooses to escalate tensions further, Israel would be “obliged to respond.” This situation is fluid and remains a critical point of concern for regional peace and security.
