North Korea discovers wreckage of South Korean military drone and warns that further violations will be considered a declaration of war_1

Tensions are escalating on the Korean Peninsula as North Korea claims to have discovered the wreckage of at least one South Korean military drone. This drone reportedly matches the model showcased by South Korea during its Armed Forces Day celebrations earlier this month.

According to a report from the Korea News Agency, North Korea has accused South Korea multiple times of sending drones over Pyongyang to distribute anti-North Korean leaflets. However, South Korea’s Defense Minister, Shin Won-sik, stated that he could not confirm these allegations.

In a statement, a spokesperson for North Korea’s Ministry of Defense revealed that the wreckage was found on October 13 in the mountainous region of Mount Kumgang. After an investigation, it was identified as a small reconnaissance drone belonging to the South Korean military’s drone command, the same type that was displayed during the October 1 Armed Forces Day event.

The spokesperson also noted that the drone was equipped with leaflet dispersal tubes, suggesting it was intended for dropping pamphlets in central Pyongyang. However, this has not been fully confirmed yet.

The statement further warned that if South Korea denies the drone’s involvement in the recent leaflet distribution, it would serve as evidence of South Korea’s unauthorized military infringement into North Korean airspace. North Korea cautioned that any further violations would be considered serious military provocations and could lead to retaliatory actions.
