North Korea confirmed that it had bombed the inter-Korean highway and also amended the constitution to list South Korea as an -enemy country-

On October 16, North Korea’s state media, KCNA, reported that the country has confirmed the destruction of a portion of the railway leading to South Korea. In a significant move, they stated that the constitution has now classified South Korea as a “hostile nation.”

The report highlighted that the Korean People’s Army executed this demolition on the orders of the Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party. Specifically, sections of approximately 60 meters each in Ganghu-ri, Goseong-gun, and Dongnae-ri in the Kaesong-Panmunjom area were completely sealed off, effectively cutting all road and rail connections with South Korea.

According to the report, this action is seen as an inevitable and legitimate measure taken in response to South Korea being designated as a hostile nation, alongside the serious political and military provocations from hostile forces that have brought the region to the brink of war. Furthermore, it indicated that this step is part of a phased plan aimed at permanently fortifying the closed southern border.

This announcement marks the first time North Korean state media has explicitly stated that the constitution has been revised to classify South Korea as a hostile nation.
