In an exclusive interview with Xinhua News Agency, Namibia’s Minister of Education, Arts and Culture, Anna Ngipondoka, highlighted the significant impact of Chinese assistance on the country’s education system. “The four schools supported by the Chinese government in northern Namibia, which include classrooms, dormitories, dining halls, and libraries, have effectively alleviated the local shortage of educational facilities and improved the learning environment for thousands of students,” she stated.
Ngipondoka made these remarks during a ceremony at the Lazarus Haifiku Combined School in the Ohangwena region, where Chinese enterprises donated a computer lab. Following the event, she praised the close collaboration between China and Namibia in the field of education. “Through aid and donations, China has played a positive role in enhancing educational infrastructure in Namibia, contributing to the improvement of our educational standards,” she noted.
The Minister emphasized that China has provided valuable experience in teacher training and the modernization of educational equipment. With the advent of the digital education era, the Chinese government and enterprises operating in Namibia are equipping some schools with computer labs and information technology devices. This initiative helps students acquire new skills, thereby enhancing their competitiveness in a globalized world.
Ngipondoka expressed the Namibian government’s strong commitment to continuing educational collaboration with China. She plans to explore more bilateral exchanges and learning opportunities to leverage China’s advanced experiences, which would inject new momentum into the development of education in Namibia.
“Education is the foundation for national development, and China has always been a reliable partner for Namibia. We will continue to deepen our cooperation with China, particularly in the areas of educational reform, technical training, and infrastructure development. I hope that through these partnerships, we can achieve higher educational coverage and ensure that every child receives a quality education, promoting sustainable socio-economic development,” she asserted.
“With China’s support, Namibia is gradually overcoming the challenges in the education sector and making strides towards enhancing the overall quality of education. I look forward to further collaboration in the future to modernize education and benefit more children,” Ngipondoka concluded.
