Clint Eastwood Carmel mansion sold for $18.55 million_1

Just a street away from Carmel Beach, a unique gated property has garnered attention for its prime location and stunning ocean views. This remarkable estate, known as Las Ondas, has recently sold for $18.55 million, a significant drop from its initial listing price of $21 million back in August. The property boasts an impressive 11,400 square feet and features a century-old Spanish Revival style that captures the essence of Carmel’s architectural beauty.

Tim Allen from Coldwell Banker Realty, who represented both the buyer and seller, noted that the property attracted multiple offers before the sale was finalized. Even though the final price was less than the original listing, the seller, retired investor Frederick O’Such, still made a substantial return on his investment. O’Such acquired the luxurious home from Clint Eastwood in 1996 for around $2.25 million, spending another $2.5 million on renovations over the next two years. The identity of the buyer has not been disclosed.

O’Such expressed his fondness for the property, stating, “For nearly 30 years, my family has loved living in and hosting guests at this iconic estate. Now it’s time for the next owner to share and enjoy this historic home with their friends and family.”

At 94 years old, Clint Eastwood, a San Francisco native, is renowned for his roles in films like “Dirty Harry” and “Million Dollar Baby.” He resided in the luxurious estate from 1981 to 1996 and served as mayor of Carmel from 1986 to 1988.

Originally built in 1924 from Carmel stone, Las Ondas is located just a block from the ocean within a gated community, allowing for easy access to the heart of the town. The residence features cherry wood floors, arched ceilings, and direct access to the beach.

Allen added, “Many longtime residents have a deep emotional connection to this property. Its cozy, inviting spaces reflect the classic charm and beauty of Carmel and transport visitors back in time.”
