Hungarian piano musician Alex Silathy’s special concert held in Fuzhou

On the evening of October 6, the Fujian Grand Theatre played host to the “Eastern Melody” concert featuring Hungarian pianist Alex Silasi.

During the performance, Silasi delivered a passionate rendition of several classical masterpieces from celebrated composers such as Frédéric Chopin and Franz Liszt. His interpretations of Chopin’s “Grande Valse Brillante in E-flat Major” and “Valse Brillante in A Minor,” along with Liszt’s “La Campanella” and “Liebestraum,” captivated the audience by showcasing the vivid emotional range typical of Western Romantic music. Listeners were entranced by Silasi’s skill in conveying both the elegance and melancholy inherent in these pieces, allowing them to experience the enchanting spirit reminiscent of the Danube River through his artistry.

The evening reached its pinnacle with Silasi’s performance of Chopin’s “Piano Concerto in F Minor.” He joined forces with artists from the Fujian Song and Dance Theatre—Chen Xiaowei, Chen Zhan, Gao Lingling, and Chen Qianliang—for this classic collaboration, which drew enthusiastic applause and cheers from the audience.

This concert was part of the China (Fujian) – Hungary Cultural Exchange Week, running from September 29 to October 13, in celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary. The event seeks to enhance cultural and tourism exchanges, leverage local strengths, and continue the enduring friendship between the two countries. As Huapeide, the Consul General of Hungary in Guangzhou, noted, despite the geographic distance between Fujian and Hungary, the connection in hearts and aspirations is strong, nurturing a bond as sweet and rich as Hungary’s renowned Tokaji wine.
