The “Double Tenth National Day Banquet” drew over 450 guests for a lively celebration, with many attendees donning attire in the red and blue colors of the national flag. Organized by the Republic of China National Day Committee in the Bay Area, the festivities kicked off with a flag-raising ceremony on the morning of October 5. The evening banquet was held at the Bay Area Overseas Chinese Education Center, uniting the community to commemorate the 113th anniversary of the Republic of China.
In an interview, Ye Yunhe, the chairperson of the Republic of China National Day Committee in the Bay Area, expressed that this year’s banquet was particularly vibrant. She highlighted the extensive involvement of various groups that sponsored tables, contributing to successful fundraising efforts. This support enabled expatriates to come together and celebrate their nation’s birthday while sharing hopes for its continued prosperity.
Guests enjoyed a feast featuring authentic Taiwanese dishes, including boiled squid and Taiwanese stir-fried rice noodles. The Bay Area dance group “Feathers in the Wind” played an integral role in welcoming attendees, with instructor Peng Leyun coordinating a performance featuring dancers in traditional Chinese qipao dresses, creating a memorable entrance. The event kicked off with an energetic drum performance, embodying the spirit of the National Day celebration.
This impressive banquet was the result of a collaborative effort spearheaded by the Taiwanese expatriate community, organized by the Bay Area National Day Committee. More than 30 organizations took part, including the Northern California Chinese Alumni Association, the Northern California Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce, the Northern California Chinese School Federation, the American KMT Silicon Valley Chapter, the San Jose Taiwanese Association, the Bay Area Chinese Olympic Committee, and the National Chinese American Women’s Association.
