The General Administration of Sport will continue to hold the conference to promote consumption in sports and leisure services.
During the opening ceremony, a representative from the Economic Department of the General Administration of Sport released the “China Outdoor Sports Industry Development Report (2023-2024).” Officials from the Yunnan Provincial Sports Bureau introduced their plans for creating an outdoor sports development hub and experience zone in the “Great Shangri-La” area. Additionally, the China Aeronautical Sports Association, the China Mountaineering Association, and the China Cycling Association presented cases on outdoor sports consumption scenarios, destinations, and premium events. The conference also announced the establishment of the “Outdoor Sports Vitality Fund.”
Olympic champions Huang Yuting, Liu Hao, Chang Hao, and Wang Shun made appearances at the event to support the growth of the outdoor sports industry. This marked the first appearance of the conference mascot “Sinan Hero,” inspired by the traditional Chinese directional tool, symbolizing the organic unity of traditional Chinese culture and contemporary outdoor sports values.
The opening ceremony was jointly launched by Gao Zhidan, Director of the General Administration of Sport, Wang Ning, Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee, Wang Yubo, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Committee and Governor of Yunnan, and Guan Zhihao, Director of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration.
The conference will span from October 26 to 29, featuring four venues across Dali Prefecture, Lijiang City, Nujiang Prefecture, and Diqing Prefecture. The Dali venue will host the opening ceremony, themed activities, experiential performances, resource promotions, and national-level sporting events, showcasing the unique charms of Yunnan as a “City of Outdoor Sports in Dali,” “Outdoor Living at the foot of Lijiang’s Snow Mountain,” “The Outdoor Paradise of Secretive Nujiang,” and “Diqing, a World Hiking Sanctuary.”
The themed activities will adopt a “4+4” format, with four main thematic discussions focusing on international outdoor leisure and talent education, the brand value and marketing of outdoor sports events, industry development and product innovation in outdoor sports equipment, and standards and safety in outdoor sports. Complementing these discussions, four specialized sessions will delve into the spirit of mountaineering, explore opportunities within the China-UK outdoor sports industries, empower trends in RV camping, and investigate win-win scenarios for natural resources and outdoor sports.
